Step 1- Click on Google Chrome and open youtube.com

Step 2- Tap on the vertical three-dot icon on the top right and select desktop mode after the page is reloaded.

Step 3- Now search for any videos you want to watch.

Step 4- Your video will automatically start playing on the next page after opening it

Step 5- Now if you exit the home screen you will notice that the video has stopped playing in the background

Step 6- You will see the media controls of the video that you are playing if you pull down the notification shade.

Step 7- Now by simply tapping on the play button, your video will start playing in the background.

Playing YouTube videos in the background on iOS

These are the following steps you need to follow for playing YouTube videos in the background on iOS.

Step 1- You need to open youtube.com on Safari.

Step 2- Tab the aA icon on the top left in the address bar followed by request desktop website after the page is loaded.

Step 3- Now you can search for any videos you want to play.

Step 4- Once the video starts playing you can exit to the home screen.

Step 5- Control centre by swiping up from the bottom of the screen on iPhone without face ID or by swiping down from the top right on iPhone with face ID.

Step 6- Now simply tab play to resume playing the video in the background after seeing the music control box on the top right.

Now you can listen to music or ASMR even after you switch from YouTube to any other app. You can also watch YouTube videos in the background without pausing them while texting on Facebook or WhatsApp. This is totally free and you don't even need to take any subscription. Enjoy streaming!
